Yoga & Sound Workshop

June 8-10, 2007

Ramanand Patel is recognized as a valued senior teacher in the Iyengar Yoga community. He combines technical expertise with philosophy and humor. Ramanand has been a leading Iyengar Yoga Instructor for students and teachers around the world since 1968. He is respected as an innovator in the use of props and working with students who have special needs. Pandit Mukesh Desai is a disciple of Pandit Jasraj, and is a world-renowned classical Hindustani musician. His love and devotion is evident in everything he does but never more passionately than when he shares his music and himself. Pandit Mukesh’s musical talent is eclipsed only by his own delightful sense of humor, which makes him one of the most beloved teachers of music around the world.

Yoga & Sound Workshop

Ramanand Patel and Pandit Mukesh Desai combine their efforts to provide a safe and penetrating journey into yoga practice. Ramanand will provide the expertise on learning various asanas in the Iyengar Tradition. Sound will be used as a prop to support deeper penetration and to help introject the breath and senses. The workshop includes lecture and discussion segments; group listening, correct vedic chanting, and learning about Hindustani music segments; and asana practice segments that are accompanied by Mukesh — whose love and devotion is evident in everything he does, but never more than when he shares his music and himself. Please note that enrollment requires students to have one year minimum experience in the Iyengar method, or other yoga students who have good knowledge of asana alignment and can hold asanas for extended timings.
