Iyengar Yoga Feb. 9 - 16th, 2008 Villas Shanti Yoga Hall is screened, clean, fully equipped with props, cooled by fans and surrounded by flowers and palm trees. Laurie Blakeney, Certified Sr. Iyengar Teacher will teach Asana and Pranayama classes each day. Laurie studies annually at the Iyengar Institute in Pune. Her style is fun, challenging, and supportive. She began her studies in 1971, and has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1977. The retreat is open to all level of students.
Daily Schedule: Poolside tapas snacks served Saturday afternoon, Feb. 9th, when you arrive. Classes begin Sunday morning Feb. 10th. We will have classes in the mornings from 8:30-11 or so and again in the evening from 4:30-6:15. One afternoon will be off during the week for touring the nearby areas or enjoying your own personal brand of leisure. Brunch will be served each day after morning class. Classes will end on Friday afternoon Feb. 15th, with a farewell dinner that evening. Check out Saturday morning, feb. 16th by 11 am. Other Meals: Town markets offer fresh groceries for those who like to cook. The restaurants are quite good, clean, and convenient for those who prefer to eat out. Accommodation: Villas Shanti is located 30 minutes south of Cancun in the fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Each double room located around a central courtyard is tiled, has its own kitchen, bathroom, and overlooks the freshwater pool. Bottled water and daily maid service are included. It is private, beautiful, secure and quiet. The beach is across the street from Villas Shanti. The reef at Puerto Morelos is spectacular and easily accessible. Snorkeling is fabulous and the beach is lovley. As housing at Villas Shanti is given in order of registration, early registration is recommended. Overflow housing is within a five-minute walk of Villas Shanti and has also been very pleasant. Travel: Fly into the Cancun airport. I’ll try to hook you up via email with someone who is flying in at about the same time. As you come out of the customs area you will see a taxi booth where you can buy a ticket for a group taxi to Puerto Morelos. You will need approximately $12 airport tax on departure. You must have an American Passport to enter Mexico. What to Bring: Sweater, beach towels, (our hosts supply towels for your room only), sun hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, walking shoes, flashlight, snorkeling equipment, iodine wash, whatever food you can’t live without. Fees: $1150 double occupancy (each person) $1500 single occupancy. Cost includes yoga tuition, yoga equipment rental, accommodations, welcome tapas, daily brunch and farewell dinner and 12% Mexican federal and tourist tax. Cancellations requests before Jan. 15th will be charged $50 fee. If you would like to travel with a person not attending yoga classes that person would pay $250 less. |
